A cookie is a small file that a website places on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit that website. On a later visit, the website can read that file again. This allows the site to recognise you, remember your preferences or measure how the site is used.

Some cookies are set on our own domain (cardoen.be), others on a partner's domain. We divide cookies into four categories. No consent is required for the essential cookies. Consent is required for all the others: we only place them after you have given your consent.

Essential cookies These cookies are necessary to make the website work and to do what you have asked for yourself. For example, they provide for the security of the site and store the choice you made in the cookie banner. Without the latter, we would have to ask for your choice again on every page. You cannot switch these cookies off.

Functional cookies These cookies remember settings and enable additional functions, such as a chat window or showing a particular version of a page. With these cookies we measure how the website is used: how many visitors there are, which pages are viewed and where visitors drop off. This allows us to improve the site. Part of this measurement is carried out by partners who process the data on our behalf. One of these services, Microsoft Clarity, also records how you move around a page, where you click and how far you scroll. This shows us where visitors get stuck.

Marketing cookies With these cookies we measure the effect of our advertisements and show you advertisements that better match your interests, including on other websites and on social media. Among other things, we measure whether you visit our website after seeing an advertisement on television or online.

On your first visit, a cookie banner appears. There you can accept or refuse per category. Refusing is just as easy as accepting, and you are not obliged to make a choice in order to use the website.

Your choice is stored for 12 months. After that we ask for it again. Your choice applies to the future: what was already processed before the withdrawal remains lawful.

The cookies in this list process personal data, such as your IP address and a unique number by which your device is recognised. This means that the parties listed in the “Placed by” column receive that data: Google, Microsoft, TikTok, HubSpot, Didomi, XAD Spoteffects and Aramis Group, among others.

A number of those parties are established outside the European Economic Area, or work with subcontractors outside it. In that case appropriate safeguards apply, such as an adequacy decision of the European Commission or the standard contractual clauses. 6.1 Google Consent Mode We use Google Consent Mode. This ensures that Google's measurement tools take account of your choice in the cookie banner. If you do not give consent, those tools do not place cookies and your device is not recognised.

Even then, Google still receives limited technical data about the visit, such as the time, the type of device and the country. That data is used only to produce aggregated estimates about the use of the website and about the results of campaigns. No cookies are placed in the process and no profile is built about you.

6.2 Enhanced Conversions When you accept marketing cookies, we use Google's Enhanced Conversions. Data that you enter yourself on our website, such as your e-mail address or telephone number, may then be sent to Google in encrypted form. This is done using one-way encryption (SHA256), so that Google cannot read the original data.

Google uses that data to determine whether an advertisement led to a request or a purchase, and reports to us on this only in totals. This technique is not used if you refuse marketing cookies.

6.3 Google Signals If you are signed in to your Google account and have enabled personalised advertising there, Google can link your visit to our website to your use of other devices. Google processes that data itself and provides us only with reports in totals, in which no individual visitors are identifiable.

You can manage this through the advertising settings of your Google account, independently of your choice in our cookie banner.

Our website contains links to websites of other parties, and we sometimes show content that is hosted by another party, such as a video. Those parties may place cookies themselves. We have no control over this. We therefore recommend that you also read their cookie and privacy policies.
